Tribe

Tribe is Chaco's hypermedia 3D multiuser virtual world server. It coordinates multiuser animation, voice, and location information in real-time, and can accommodate up to 500 simultaneous users per server computer. It is especially suitable for use with Pueblo, Chaco's multimedia client application. It can also be used with other multiuser client applications.

Tribe runs on Windows/NT, Windows95, and Unix platforms.

Other servers

Chaco and others have created Pueblo-Enhanced versions of popular MUD servers. These currently include TinyMUX 1.0.p6, TinyMUSH 2.2.1, and DGD. Others have modified MOO and LP-MUD. We want you to use these patches however you like, so they are in the public domain. Here's the copyright. However, please note that commercial use of Pueblo under any server requires a reasonable license fee. Contact us for details.

Some servers now ship with Pueblo support built-in. Here's the ones we know of:

• TeenyMUD
• TinyMush (FTP directory)
• TinyMux (FTP directory)

To download patches or a complete source tree for the kind of server you're using, select one of the following:

• TinyMUSH 2.2.1 patch #2 2/12/96
• TinyMUSH 2.2.1 patches. 11/30/95
• pre-patched TinyMUSH 2.2.1 source tree. 11/30/95
• DGD LP-MUD 1.0 patches.

We also provide instructions so you can modify your MUD server to support Pueblo. It is very easy to modify most MUD servers to systematically display exits and object as hyperlinks, so a user need not type "north", or "look snake". Our patches are very careful not to change the look-and-feel of MUD servers when a user connects through a plain-text client like telnet, so you don't have to worry about locking out non-Pueblo users.

Adding multimedia to an existing MUD is also easy. We suggest that you add multimedia piecemeal, after you've converted your MUD to display hyperlinks.
